MODERN SLAVERY STATEMENT
The practice of slavery still exists within today’s society in every country in the world (in one form or another). It can occur in various forms however, the key characteristics which distinguish slavery and violate a person’s human rights are as follows:
- Forced to work – through mental or physical threat
- Owned or controlled by an ‘employer’, usually through mental or physical abuse or the threat of abuse
- Dehumanised, treated as a commodity or bought and sold as ‘property’
- Physically constrained or has restrictions placed on his/her freedom of movement
At Plan B, we are dedicated to tackling this issue which is alive in our country. Our values are to be honest, compliant, communicative, understanding and successful in all that we do and our response to modern day slavery adheres to these values by:
- Ensuring legal compliance and lawful practice
- Ensuring that we exceed the requirements of the ‘National Living Wage’
- Striving to value each employee and make sure that their time at Plan B is enjoyable, fulfilling and successful.
Plan B has a zero tolerance policy to modern day slavery in every aspect of how we do business.
We are a small team with a one tier management structure, all of whom are based within our office in the UK. Given the nature of our business, we believe that there is a low risk that slavery or human trafficking would have any form of connection with our business activities. However, we believe that we still have an obligation and as a result we have made commitments as detailed below.
Fair Pay
Plan B commit to ensuring that all of our employees and contracted staff receive a fair salary for the job they perform within the business and ensure that all employees are paid above the national living wage (the levels of income required to meet a socially acceptable minimum standard of living).
Whistleblowing
Plan B encourage all of its employees, contracted staff and other business partners to report any concerns they may have (big or small), related to any circumstances or risks of slavery/human trafficking. Our management structure is designed so that all members of staff / contractors know who they can disclose concerns to, with complete discretion.
Our Recruitment
Our recruitment takes place through a combination of direct advertising on our website, job boards and recruitment agencies. We only use reputable employment agencies and we set standard terms and conditions of business with each agency we deal with. All employees who join us are subject to checks to ensure they are genuine applicants operating as free agents.
Plan B undertakes to ensure that all employment is freely chosen, child labour shall not be used and no inhumane treatment or violations of human rights will occur internally
